Introducing RES: Recognize, Engage, Support™

Writer: Sunny NaughtonSunny Naughton

I am beyond excited to introduce RES: Recognize, Engage, Support™, a program that has been in my heart and mind for a long time. Creating this has been a meaningful journey that stems from my passion for communicating and connecting.

What is RES?

RES: Recognize, Engage, Support™ is a practical, research-based mental well-being training designed to help individuals recognize when someone may need support, engage in meaningful conversations, and offer encouragement toward helpful resources.

Rooted in the Latin word "res," meaning "matter" or "concern," RES reinforces that mental well-being is a real, tangible aspect of life that we can support one another with. This program is designed to be accessible, engaging, and flexible, making it an ideal training for workplaces, schools, and community organizations.

Why RES Matters

Mental health conversations often feel overwhelming. Many people genuinely want to help but feel unequipped or afraid of saying the wrong thing. Others assume that if they’re not a mental health professional, they can’t support someone who is struggling. RES bridges that gap.

It’s not about fixing or diagnosing; it’s about showing up for each other.

It’s not about being an expert; it’s about being present.

It’s not about crisis intervention; it’s about everyday conversations that make a difference.

Through interactive discussions and real-world scenarios, RES gives people the tools to recognize signs of distress, engage in conversations with empathy, and connect others with helpful resources.

What Makes RES Unique?

RES is about everyday engagement. It’s designed to be short (1-2 hours), flexible, and adaptable to different organizational needs.

  • Customizable Content — RES can be tailored for different audiences, whether it’s workplace teams, educators, or student leaders.

  • Actionable & Practical — Participants leave the training with clear, simple strategies they can apply right away.

  • Flexible Delivery — Available in-person, virtually, or as a Train-the-Trainer model for long-term sustainability.

Who is RES For?

Workplaces looking to build a culture of mental well-being.

Schools & educators supporting students’ mental health.

Community organizations creating safe spaces for open conversations.

Leaders, HR professionals, and individuals who want to feel more confident in discussing mental health.
